Deployment ConfigurationsΒΆ
This section provides a detailed description of each supported deployment configuration in StarlingX:
- All-in-One Simplex (AIO-SX)
A standalone cloud with a single physical server providing all three cloud functions (controller, worker, and storage).
- All-in-One Duplex (AIO-DX) (optionally with one or more worker nodes)
A standalone cloud with two HA-protected physical servers, both running all three cloud functions (controller, worker, and storage). Optionally, you can add one or more worker nodes to the cluster for additional workload hosting capacity.
- Standard Configuration
A standalone cloud designed for scalable and highly available setups, with two dedicated controller nodes, optionally a set of dedicated storage nodes, and a large pool of dedicated worker nodes.
- Distributed Cloud
A distributed system of multiple clouds, with a central cloud (i.e., System Controller cloud) managing a large pool of geographically distributed clouds (i.e., subclouds). Generally, the central cloud can be either an AIO-DX or a Standard deployment configuration, depending on capacity requirements, and the subclouds can be any of the single cloud deployment configurations (i.e., AIO-SX, AIO-DX [+ workers], and/or Standard).
